Velvet Warnings

Velvet Warnings started as an experiment: what happens when someone with no formal musical training, a very specific idea of how a song should feel, and a stubborn ear for what works gets access to AI music tools? I build songs from concepts, lyrics, characters and moods, using ChatGPT during writing and development and Suno as part of the music creation process. I’m less interested in staying inside one genre than in finding the right sound for each idea. Some songs arrive almost fully formed on the first try. Others take twenty versions, rewrites and increasingly specific instructions about which instrument needs to be thrown out of the window. The result is a growing catalogue that moves through dark alt-pop, synth-rock, jazz-rock, cinematic music and whatever else the next idea demands. At the center of much of it is Adrian — a recurring imaginary male presence behind the Velvet Warnings world: tired, sharp, magnetic, slightly dramatic, and usually one long night away from a breakdown or a breakthrough. He’s part voice, part character, part mood, and he keeps turning up wherever the songs need a face.
