I’m Jerry Ryan, the writer and creator behind Project Renegade 71. For me, music is basically an autobiography set to sound. Some songs come from something that happened yesterday. Others come from memories I’ve carried for decades. I write about family, growing older, love, faith, mistakes, second chances, childhood, America, relationships, loss, good times and the things most of us think about but don’t always say out loud. Sometimes a song takes me fifteen minutes to write. Sometimes an idea stays with me for months before I finally find the right words. I don’t stay inside one genre. Depending on the story, a song might become rock, country, hard rock, alternative or something completely different. The style can change, but the goal doesn’t: make the listener feel something. Project Renegade 71 started as a creative outlet, but it has become something much bigger to me — a musical record of my life that my family will always have.
